TAO Takes Home Pair of EdTech Awards in One-week Span, Sets Course for Future Success

BELVAL, LUXEMBOURG – (May 18, 2015) – Open Assessment Technologies S. A. (OAT), the leading provider of open source assessment solutions for education and public sector employment, today announced that TAO, its open source assessment platform, earned two major EdTech awards in early May. These back-to-back achievements are indicative of TAO’s growing market presence, and its establishment as one of the most advanced QTI authoring and online assessment solutions available.

“To win any award in this fiercely competitive market is an honor, and to win two back-to-back is a milestone we celebrate with great enthusiasm,” said Marc Oswald, co-founder and CEO of OAT. “These awards stand as testament to our team’s commitment to excellency and our ability to exceed customer expectations at every turn of the way. We are thankful to have our hard work recognized by two of the most prominent organizations in our industry.”

IMS Global 2015 Learning Impact Awards

IMS Global Learning Consortium (IMS Global/IMS) presented its 9th annual worldwide Learning Impact Awards during the Learning Impact Leadership Institute, which took place May 4-7, 2015 in Atlanta, Georgia. Medalists were selected from a roster of 16 innovative technology finalists submitted by K-20 institutions and education technology organizations. TAO took the top prize – Platinum award – for its mature and proven open source assessment solution.

The Learning Impact Awards recognize the use of technology in context at an educational institution and the results achieved. Winners were selected by a panel of expert evaluators using a series of rubrics to evaluate eight dimensions for improving teaching and learning impact, including improving access, affordability, and quality of learning.

SIIA Innovation Incubator Program Awards

The Education Technology Industry Network (ETIN) of SIIA recognized winners of its SIAA Innovation Incubator Program at the Education Industry Summit, May 3-5 in San Francisco, California. TAO from Open Assessment Technologies was recognized as Most Likely to Succeed runner-up.

These awards reinforce the value of TAO, and validate OAT’s mission to harness the power of open source and open standards to create an interoperable ecosystem that will advance the entire industry as a whole, helping customers create engaging assessment content while cutting cost by 50 percent or more.
