We are constantly working on developing new features, evolving our technology, and improving the overall performance of our solutions to support your needs and better accommodate your requests. This release details the latest functional enhancements for TAO, which you can view and directly interact with today. Here, you’ll find updates related to Authoring, TAO Advance, and TAO Grader.

TAO Core

The following updates have been released this month to the TAO community.

  • An issue that prevented the creation of tests in classes with an underscore at the beginning of their label has been fixed.
  • The way the MAXSCORE item outcome is computed whenever a Graphic Gap Match Interaction is used has been refined in such a way that an infinite amount of combinations can be achieved.
  • An issue with the categories inheritance mechanism during test assembly that led to wrong categories being inherited by items in some situations has been fixed.

TAO Ignite, Pro & Enterprise

The following updates have been released for TAO Ignite, Pro, and Enterprise.

Authoring Updates

  • Users now have the capability for users to wrap text around images within both items and passages.
  • Authors can now use an expression with gaps when using the Math Entry Interaction.
  • Users can select individual cells, rows, and columns in a table within an item to help the author apply formatting to multiple cells at once. The ability to individually align the content in any selected cell has also been added.
  • An issue that prevented the creation of tests in classes with an underscore at the beginning of their label has been fixed.
  • A problem with the video in a Media Player that was preventing it from being properly centered on the screen whenever its size was smaller than the page width has been fixed.
  • A problem with the Inline Choice Interaction that was causing it to render with a right-to-left alignment even if a left-to-right language was defined on the current item has been fixed.
  • A problem with the way the Choice Interaction renders when the choices have media and text and the orientation is changed from vertical to horizontal has been fixed.
  • A problem with the Hotspot Interaction that was causing the score for the hotspots to disappear during authoring has been fixed.
  • A problem related to the inability to resize media within an item after it was added to that item has been fixed.
  • The way the MAXSCORE item outcome is computed whenever a Graphic Gap Match Interaction is used has been refined in such a way that an infinite amount of combinations can be achieved.
  • The way MAXSCORE is computed for all PCIs has been improved to take into account the number of PCIs in an item.
  • A problem that occurred when adding a new outcome variable for an existing item that led to the inability to save the item and get back to the item bank has been fixed.
  • An issue with the categories inheritance mechanism during test assembly that led to wrong categories being inherited by items in some situations has been fixed.
  • The Norwegian translation for TAO has been updated.

Roles & Permissions

  • A general permission problem that led to some users gaining access to list management without having the required rights has been fixed.

TAO Advance

  • An issue that prevented files uploaded during a delivery execution in TAO Advance to be downloaded from the Results tab has been fixed.
  • Support for the Audio PCI in TAO Advance has been added.
  • The PDF viewing capabilities in TAO Advance have been improved on devices without native PDF viewing.
  • A problem in TAO Advance that caused the Associate Interaction option to be draggable in review mode whenever images were included has been fixed.
  • A small issue with inadvertently showing a scroll hint on the bottom of an image even when there is no scroll needed has been fixed.
  • The behavior of the Hottext Interaction has been improved by automatically deselecting a previously selected choice whenever a new choice is selected (if a constraint is defined to allow only one choice).
  • Users can now configure the behavior of the browser navigation when using TAO Advance so that they are warned if they want to leave a test before it’s finished.
  • Users can align tables (left, center, or right) when using TAO Advance.
  • Users now have the ability to send scores via AGS back to the TAO Backoffice whenever a test is launched via TAO Advance. This feature enables users to access the results of a TAO Advance delivery execution from the Results tab in TAO.
  • Improvements have been made to accessibility compliance in TAO Advance by using the interface language to read aloud any constraint messages triggered by a test, independent of the item language.

TAO Grader

  • Users can now set negative integer numbers for the minimal value of externally scored (manual) outcome variables.
  • Page navigation in TAO Grader has been optimized to reduce the need for full page reloads.
  • Whenever TAO Grader is used with LTI users, the deliveries are now automatically linked to a scoring project, thus eliminating the need for a Scoring Project Manager to manually perform this operation.
